I stretch and stretch, so why do I still have tightness when I have been doing yoga and stretching for years? It’s a question we hear a lot. Think about this analogy, your tightness problem is like having a knot in a rubber band. If you stretch out the rubber band, the knot just gets tighter. So when you feel tight, and you want to stretch it out, all you are doing is tightening the knot. What we do first at JGPT, is find out the specific problem that is causing your tightness and address it to loosen the knot. Once the knot releases, then your stretch exercises become effective and will help keep you flexible and loose.
