Cupping is a therapeutic treatment using suction created by cups placed on the surface of the skin to relieve muscle tension, promote healing and increase blood flow in tissue. Your session will begin with a Myofascial Massage or Professional Stretching to loosen tissues and identify restricted areas where the Cups will be applied. The Cups are designed to remove air by suction, creating a force which distracts the skin from the fascial layer. Dry Needling
Dry needling is typically used to release knots and relieve muscle spasms and pain. During dry needling, a practitioner inserts several filiform needles into your skin. Filiform needles are fine, short, stainless steel needles that don’t inject fluid into the body (which is why the term “dry” is used.) When the needle penetrates the knots in a muscle, it elicits a “twitch” response. This twitch leads to a release of pain and indicates a deactivation of the painful trigger point.
Some dry needling techniques treat a broader landscape of the central nervous system. This is called non-trigger point treatment. Instead of inserting needles only in the area of pain, the practitioner may instead insert needles in areas around the point of pain instead of directly on it. This technique relies on the idea that pain is the result of a greater nerve or muscular issue, not just focused in the main area of pain.

Myofascial Release
To understand the benefits of Myofascial Release (MFR), it’s helpful to understand what fascia is. Fascia is a densely woven tissue that tightly wraps, connects and supports your muscles, weaving between and even penetrating them. It also covers every bone, nerve, artery, vein, and your internal organs, including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. Fascia is a giant interconnected piece of tissue from head to toe without any gaps, a specialized system of the body that has the appearance of a spider’s web.
Your Fascia affects movement, pain, sensation, and mobility in every part of your body. Trauma, injury, overuse, and surgery can create restrictions in the Fascia, which may produce pain that doesn’t show up in imaging technology like x-rays and MRI’s. In other words, myofascial restrictions can cause deeply felt pain that your physician may have trouble diagnosing and may try to treat with pain medications instead of offering natural treatment solutions.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a natural, safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions. During your MFR session, the Physical Therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic. These areas may be restricting muscle and joint movement and can contribute to widespread muscular pain. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy will loosen restricted movement to aid in eliminating pain and restoring motion. Peristaltic Pulse Dynamic Compression, also known as NormaTec, is a soreness recovery system that uses intermittent pulsed and sustained compression that aims to reduce swelling, improve lymphatic return, increase blood flow and reduce pain.
Effects of Exercise on Muscle
Training results in an inflamatory process with associated swelling. The symptoms of this inflammation include the typical soreness you feel after working out at the gym including: muscle aches, swelling and movement impairment.
